National Eggs Benedict Day is today, April 16th. Not only is the Benedict my favorite breakfast food, my most favorite version comes with shrimp and fried green tomatoes (and yes, in the south tomato is sometimes spelled with an “e”). Now back to the ‘Shui. In the south, we also have this crazy custom that we wave at everyone driving down the road. My husband encountered this phenomenon and was completely blown away. The southerner will wave at all the cars on those southern highways, byways, and back roads due to one simple fact. If you are driving on a back road, you must belong there – no one takes a short cut down a winding country road if you’re in a hurry. They meander (much like this tip). So if you’re driving there, you must know someone close by. And if you know someone close by, then you’re a neighbor, too, by proxy of birth or friendship. Hence, you must be waved at – it’s the neighborly thing to do after all. You belong there. Now THAT’s a very Feng Shui philosophy. You belong here, hence I make the space for you to BE here – complete with a smile and wave. Own your life with a smile and wave to all those surrounding you. Not only will you be welcoming in the good energy you want in your life, it’ll throw off so many people in the process. Some may complain, some may do a double-take, some may freak out. But SOME will shift their day-to-day, hum-drum existence and smile and wave back. How was that for some meandering ‘Shui?!?
